Yoga currently takes place on Wednesday at 6.30pm and will be starting on Thursday at 12.30pm and 1.15pm from 13th February
I’m Sharon and I have been practicing yoga for 25 (and a wee bit) years and teaching for around 11 years. Yoga has always been my “go to” in every aspect of my life and it always will be. Whether I am feeling happy, full of energy, sluggish, tired, stressed , injured …… I practice yoga. I love the physical challenge as well as the meditative approach…yoga works every part of the body from the muscles deep into the cells of the body providing the hydration and nourishment required for the body to be BALANCED.
I had always been of the mindset that “the faster and more challenging the workout was, the better it was for me! Until I found Yin Yoga or it found me! I first practiced Yin Yoga (reluctantly, as it was too slow paced for me) in California 4 years ago and I was floating in Shavasana at the end of class. Wow! The more I practiced, the more lighter and calmer I felt plus it really began to compliment my YANG practices by increasing my flexibility, increasing joint mobility, my joints felt more lubricated (no WD 40 needed), less injuries plus I felt more calmer and I had more energy and my sleep was amazing.. Practicing only a challenging workout was sometimes leaving me feeling depleted.
Hence I spent one week training in Bergen, Norway 3 years ago with a very experienced Yin teacher.
Since training I have been practicing and teaching Yin Yoga regularly. It challenges you mentally, physically and emotionally. Yin Yoga teaches you to SLOW DOWN, listen to the body and mind, feel what is going on inside. We all know its not easy being still in an unstill world. Yin Yoga really is MEDICINE for the body & mind. As we age (from the early 20’s) if we don’t use it, we lose it. Our bones and joints weaken, they seize up causing imbalances and illnesses in the body. By adding Yin to our lives we hydrate the joints and nourish the cells promoting a state of balance. So whether you have no or little yoga experience, whether you are a seasoned athlete or whatever your exercise regime is YIN YOGA IS A NECESSITY to create balance in your life.
